Let me guess, you started your Instagram account, you've been posting and following, but your following is growing slower than molasses pours. I've been there, done that, and bought the movie on DVD. Social media is more than that- you have to incorporate strategy to gain the masses. Here's a crash course of increasing your following.
Pick a visual theme
Instagram is about visual appeal. You'll notice that some of the larger IG accounts have some type of visual theme- maybe they have a general color they stick to, or an alternating pattern, etc. whatever you choose, make sure it's aesthetically pleasing!
Plan your posts ahead of time
Make a photo folder in your phone dedicated to planned Instagram post photos or graphics.
Type up your post using the Notes app on your phone. You can even make a folder especially for Instagram post ideas.
Use relevant hashtags
Use hashtags related directly to your industry.
Selling photography devices? Maybe try using: #photoshoot #picoftheday #instapic. Using non-related hashtags isn't going to get you closer to your target market.
Find out who your competitors are, and use the same generic hashtags they're using. Generic is important because some brands create their own hashtags, and you don't want to look like an idiot by blindly copying all their stuff.
Network, Network, Network!
Don't expect everyone to come to you- sometimes you have to go to them! Collaborate with similar brands, followers, and potential customers.
Write a killer bio
Your bio is the first glimpse of who you are, so make it good!
You'll only have a few short seconds to capture someone's attention. Tell the world about yourself, use emojis, be creative!
